Project Overview

In early November we were asked to assess the possibility of scaffolding around the perimeter of the upper section a roof which contained communication towers in the vicinity.
In order for a survey to be carried out all towers had to be isolated for a short period. The survey was carried out and the clients project was discussed at length.

Difficulties & Solutions

In mid January the project was given the go ahead with all the relevant communication towers moved to a new position and isolated. A quick site meeting between the crane operator and Troake regarding communication methods and safety around the lifting area was completed and the site hazards identified and relevant precautions taken.
The main consideration for this project was the safe lifting of all equipment to the roof area so this was done on a Saturday morning so there was minimal pedestrian traffic and vehicles.
All equipment was craned to the roof and placed in pre determined areas to spread the load around the roof. A static line was used in some areas for the scaffolder to attach his harness, this was a precautionary measure but an option we welcomed at this height.
Scaffold was erected in the same day so the main works could start on the Monday morning.
The project was completed within the day with no disruption to the site and the client was most impressed with speed and efficiency we carried out the project.
